Update: WSOP Day 1C Rolls out

Record entry for the last chance to compete for the massive prizes

The numbers have been great at this years World Series of Poker main event in Las Vegas, as 3,418 players entered the competition on Day 1C – the last of the entry days at the tournament. This number set a single-day record for the WSOP main event.

This time, the ‘Shuffle Up and Dealquot; order was given by Nevada politician, Senator Dean Heller.

Many big names appeared once again in the event – the legendary Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson, who had earlier tweeted that he was not going to enter, six former main event champions, Johnny Chan, Jonathan Duhamel, Jamie Gold, Chris Moneymaker, Tom McEvoy and Joe Cada, as well as Humberto Brenes, David Sands, Dan Kelly, Nam Le, Terrence Chan, Joe Tehan, Andy Frankenburger, Fabrice Soulier, Antonio Esfandiari and Sam Trickett – winner and runner up respectively in this year’s Big One for One Drop, Chris Moorman, Michael Mizrachi, Joseph Cheong, Steve Billirakis, Jason Mercier and David ldquo;Bakesrdquo; Baker.

Among the celebs who joined the action are actor Jason Alexander and cricketer Shane Warne.

The fierce action by the end of the day saw famous Doyle Brunson survive, as well as Joe Cada, Johnny Chan (WSOP main event champ in 1987 and 1988), Jamie Gold and Tom McEvoy, Brandon Adams, Jake Cody, Sorel Mizzi and Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom.

Others who were skillful an lucky enough to go to Day 2 were Michael Mizrachi, Matt Affleck and Antonio Esfandiari, as well as Jason Alexander, while Phil Ivey and Jason Mercier survived but barely, and will most likely be at a big disadvantage because of their low chip stacks.

The competition on the other hand ended for former champs Josh Duhamel and Chris Moneymaker, along with Jeff Williams, Annette Obrestad, Lex Veldhuis, George Lind, Humberto Brenes, Steve ODwyer, Olivier Busquet, Jonathan Little, David Bach, Andrew Robl and Chino Rheem.

The play will resume in Day 2 on July 11, whereas the survivors of Days 1A and 1B will clash in separate battles on July 10.
